Just got my car last night, I went with leatherette & front heated seats, though I struggled with the choice. In the end, I decided I'd rather spend the money on HK and a moonroof. Would I prefer to have leather? Probably; it feels/smells a little nicer, though the leatherette will be much more hard-wearing. I'd also prefer to have a new M5, but for now, I love my car, and am absolutely happy with how I've optioned it.
Point is, unless you buy/lease a new car every two years, if you think you're going to second guess yourself about skipping an option you should probably just find a way to fit it into your budget. Otherwise, you'll never be 100% happy with what you've got.
