Cheers thanks Feng and rednose. I fixed it by, deleting both bluetooth connections out of the phone and car. Hard reset the iPhone (volume down and wake button on iphone7 plus as per rednose). Shut the car off for a good 15 minutes. Then cleared all recent call history from iPhone. Started car and iPhone and re-paired it.

Not sure which one, or which combination did it; but it did the trick. Hope this helps if anyone gets the same problem.
