I have a 2013 328i. It had the tiny 6 inch screen with a very old version of idrive. I installed the NBT EVO and now have ID6 with nav, carplay, and the larger 8.8 inch screen. It cost $3k total.
You need a screen, infotainment computer/DVD (NBT EVO), and the controller. Also a bit of coding.
