You are right it is a disgrace especially for a $70,000 car, if VW's $25,000 car can get it right why cant BMW. I note It is a small issue but nevertheless an issue that cannot be overlooked and is unacceptable. They will replace it, but they were scrutinising as thought we mistreated it... which we didnt. I have also found some US postings where others had similar problems, apparently the coating on both the gloss and matt pillars are susceptible to flaking rather easily.
