How often do you replace your cars?

My previous BMW 3er went 158K miles before I passed her on to relatives. They in turn passed her on to other relatives. She's still in the family at nearly 300K miles. Yes, the entire car was given a full refurbishing at a bit beyond 225K miles (someone else's decision, not mine)

If a 328i is what you want to spend your 20K miles/year in, buy one. FWIW, I would buy the E90 and not the F30 were I buying right now and in your shoes, whereby longevity is among the paramount concerns. There are big discounts available on E90s and it's not the first year of existence for a car operating on a brand new engine that's unlike any BMW have sold recently. Finally, inline sixes have primary and secondary balance which a lot of folks say contributes to greater engine life as there are fewer vibrations.

Good luck.
