Let's put this to bed once and for all. From the Service Manual (Bentley)
N20/N26 Engine
AWD = 5.1 US Quarts (4.8 L)
RWD = 5.3 US Quarts (5.0L)
N55 Engine
6.9 US Quarts (6.5L)
N47 (Diesel)
5.5 US Quarts (5.2 L)
So for an N20/N26 just buy the 5L jugs and call it good.
and before you ask, no the manual does not cover the B48/B58 engines yet.
