My first time keeping track of the event with the live feed from the bmw website.

That's slower than the road cars..
Actually the 2nd place M3 GT2 ran at an average speed of 164km/h (over the entire 24h). The laptimes are in no way compareable to test laps. Those go over 20+ km (the SportAuto lap), a 24h race lap is 25+ km. The 2011 24h race was probably the fastest 24h race ever at the Nürburgring.

As far as the BMW statistics of this race go... in total 65 cars in the field were BMWs (including Minis), which makes BMW by far the largest marque in the field. Which has been true for a while. BMWs accounted for no less than 9 class wins (in a total of 26 classes) in 2011.

And as far as Porsche goes... not Porsche, but the Manthey Racing Team are king of the ring! Porsche knows, why they let Manthey prepare and race the cars and don't try to do it themselves!
