Sorry but you're mistaken on this.
F30s without adaptive suspension just have bog standard passive suspension. Pressing the eco/comfort/sport button doesn't do anything to the suspension on these cars, it just alters the throttle response and steering wheel feel.
Adaptive suspension changes depending on the mode the car is in but also, from what I've read, depending on the road surface. So if you're on a bumpy road in sport mode the dampers will absorb the bumps better than passive sport suspension would.
What you said elsewhere is I believe correct though - that adaptive M adapts to the road surface semi-independantly of the mode the car is in. So even in sports mode, bumps will be less pronounced than in passive sport suspension.
