Your average buyer of used BMWs doesn't peruse forums such as this one. I find it unlikely that 3, 4, or more years from now many buyers will know that 2012 was a short model year that launched in calendar year 2012, etc. Four years from now a prospective buyer will see 2012 and 2013 models available for sale, and will consider the 2013 three years old and the 2012 model four years old. They will be willing to pay more for the 2013.
