I've been reading the Coding thread for ages now and now I think I'll give it a go and have decided to build my own cable, the prices people are charging on eBay are a touch steep for what it is.
Total cost to build your own cable, I've worked it out to be about
£5.42 potentially less if I get the 510 ohm from a Maplins for less than £1.53.
1. 1 Meter Shielded Cat6 cable: £1.90
