Production status on 800#

Hi All,

I tried the 1-800-831-1117, as this should be much more accurate than BMW's website.

"The 800 automated information number is much more accurate than Owner's Circle (by two days or so), so use it with your production number to figure out what's going on with your car. The number is 1-800-831-1117; say “Vehicle Production Status” and then read out your production number. If your car production is complete, it will say “Your vehicle production is complete.” This whole stage takes a week or less."

I ordered my M3 on 5/24/2008 for production in July. The 800# tells me that the car is already in the paint shop and ready this week????

Am I lucky or did I get the wrong info???

Updated 6/12/08.
I was probably lucky as the vehicle is ready and "Awaiting transport" as per 6/10/08

Updated 6/16/08.
Today 800# told me: "Main port of exit", that must be Bremerhaven.
Does any know, where I can find the VIN of the car for tracking on W&W?

Updated 6/28/08.
The dealer gave me the VIN.
I tracked via http://www.2wglobal.com/www/WEP/index.jsp and I see that my car in on the Don Juan to New York, loaded 6/19/08.
Expected date of arrival: July 4, 2008.
Let's see if I can track the boat as well.

=> yep,via www.sailwx.info I tracked the Don Juan. About halfway from Europe to Canada now, then NY is next stop.

Updated 7/03/08.
Don Juan is on its way from Halifax to New York! ETA still July 4th.
- Spartanburg Delivery is scheduled for August 7, 2008, that's another 4.5 weeks!!!

Keep you informed.
A.
