If I remember correctly, the last version of the CIC had a way of downloading the Music Collection (HDD) into an USB stick. I would assume that the first version of the NBT had that option as well (never tried). For sure, the current NBT2 Evo had that option (Music Collection -> press Option at the iDrive controller).
Also, if the Music Collection was imported via the CD player then it will be compressed at 128kbps WAV into the HDD. Otherwise
it will be at the same compression of the original.
