Abnormal loud noise under hood when engine off, power still on

Got a new 440i, it's only got a little over 500mls on it. The car has been noisy since day one, but I'm use to that with BMWs. This however is nothing like I've ever dealt with before. Here's the scenario, after a drive if I power off the engine, but leave the power on (i.e. radio on, iDrive etc.) I get this really loud noise that sounds like electric buzzing, whirling, oscillating noise coming from the engine bay. Popped open the hood and I can hear it from the driver side under the engine shroud. Sometimes it's really loud and other times just loud. Either way, you hear it very clearly and it's really annoying and clearly not normal. If I hit the Start/Stop button to power off the car it stops immediately.
Planning on taking it in to be looked at, just curious if anyone else has run into this. Searched the forum, but couldn't find anything.
