The fuel pump failed on my car and I got the drivetrain malfunction.
BMW replaced the whole fuel tank.
I don't see why the whole tank had to be replaced they can be taken out and on the older BMW's the fuel pumps can be changed.
There was a recall related to the fuel pump but I can't remember the details.
