What do you mean the Dinan Tune is done by BMW? You mean your dealer would install it and fully warranty it?
Dinan and BMW fell out of bed years ago, in part because BMW was coming out with their own line of performance parts. Dinan has their own separate warranty (which is no full guarantee) that they will honor if their tune causes something to fail, but I've already seen both BMW and Dinan refuse to cover an issue when both said it wasn't their fault.
It makes zero sense to me that BMW would sell a competing product. I find this hard to believe, this would be the only dealership in the US I've ever heard of recently to do what you're talking about.
Whoever told you this you might want to double check just to be 100%. I find the likelihood of what you say to be....well, not likely.
