I'm going to say it again: THERE IS NO SOLUTION. I have experienced this already THREE TIMES. I've had my steering rack replaced THREE TIMES and in all cases it came back. And this has been in TWO DIFFERENT CARS. Either your car was built without the clunk, or it wasn't. End of story. I'd urge you to read up on the X3 discussion forums about this. Or you could just dick around with your service department while they try to tell you "we're working on it." Go ahead, waste time.
