The crop factor on the 1D series is 1.4x, I think, and 1.6x on the 7D. The 1D MkIV has a superior AF scheme than the 7D, working in much lower light and working a bit faster. Also, the 7D's shutter is good for around 50,000 clicks and the 1D series is good for several times that. Still, the main reason that I sometimes covet a 1D4 is the AF with an f/8 lens.
