I average 25.5 mpg with my 2009 335i with 6-speed Auto. It was rated (using the newer standard) at 19 and 26 mpg. Driving is 65% California densely packed freeway and 35% around town. When not NEEDING acceleration, I often use the paddles to upshift and rely on its mighty low-rpm torque. Result: great mileage and plenty of power reserve when needed. I am expecting to achieve low thirties with the 2012 335i.
