The thing is, the 6er Gran Coupe KIND OF has a niche for itself, as there is no 4-door 6er-comparable car (so effectively, a CLK/A7 competitor): the 5 is smaller and the 7 is far, far bigger.
The 4er Gran Coupe would compete against the 3er and the 5er. I think that's a bit too crowded a space.
