While I agree with your statement, the pressure recommendation for the square setup 225/45R18 snow tires I have (on my E90 335d) are quite different from the staggered 225/40R18 & 255/35R18 summer tires. If you look at the recommendations (on p.186-8 in my wife's 328xd owners manual), the same disparity exists. Given that, I probably would be more careful in making any statement like yours.
