After over 3 weeks of having this problem, I think I see a pattern in it. Should I drive from somewhere to somewhere, park there car and leave it for many hours, there is no problem at all upon the next start. If I park the car for a shorter time though (typically shopping around, stopping at the gas station, having a coffee and then driving away, etc), there's about 30% chance of hitting this error.
The question is, how this piece of information gets back to BMW and whether it helps or not (my guess is it'd be helpful though).
