Hi all,

I also had a rattle from the front on going over bumps but also a knocking when turning the steering wheel back and forth, from standstill and moving.

The dealer said that the knocking was as bad as he had heard, and they recently fixed the issue with a new steering rack on an X-series. They replaced the lower steering arm, which improved the looseness of the steering/rattle, but did nothing to the knocking.

The dealer now reports that the steering rack is at fault, but BMW say that it's 'in specification'.

Any thoughts on how to proceed with BMW?
