Just dealing with this issue myself.
Thought that my aftermarket wheels with TPMS from my E92 would work on my F30.
I can confirm that I get a warning light (not yet locked, as far as I know) that TPMS is malfunctioning.
I plan to pick up a set of TPMS for the F30.
BavarianX - I have my eye on the gunmetal stems, but the additional cost of that optional part might push me to find another vendor. Just my $0.02
