You can debate the 'half the engine feeding a small turbo', or 'whole engine feeding a large turbo' all day long. Fact is 'done properly' you can get same performance from either solution.
Packaging helps the twin turbo at times, and on V engines is almost mandatory, so there are reasons for choosing one or the other, not always for performance.....
but one thing is for sure, to the average punter 'twin' is always better than one. Ker-chiiiiiiiing!!!!
