On my prior Lexus is350 I had to replace a windshield and didnt have the ability to use my insurance coverage through geico. My deductible was $500 and the safelite cost was $400. I asked geico if I went oem from Lexus for $1,000 would geico pay the $500 above my deductible and they said no. I went with safelite and the glass was supposedly "oem equivalent." The glass didn't have the Toyota stamp and was distorted in the last few inches as the glass met the A pillar. I would say that safelite or similar is a perfect choice for 95% of car owners. I just happen to be someone that will do it through a dealer next time around.
