To use the 3D, you need to be in Perspective View with the option enabled through the physical Option button on the iDrive controller. From personal experience, the 3D renders only the buildings in downtown or skyscrapers here in Houston, which is the 4th largest city in the US. Most of the city is just flat on the map.

In the US, you either have Navigation or you don't. There's no Business, Professional, etc.
