It's the other way around.
You have to activate Personal HotSpot on your iPhone and SmartView HD (Apple TV) will connect automatically to your iPhone when you get into the car.
You can mirror your phone in HD to the screen in the car through AirPlay and use data connection on your iPhone at the same time. Or just use Apple TV.
The same works for Android devices but you need an app called Mirroring360 Sender. This app uses AirPlay.
