I wonder about the accuracy of this story given to you by your dealer. For him to suggest that the plant would be shut down in October for two weeks for further re-construction seems unlikely to me.
Firstly, this stoppage in production would be incredibly costly for BMW. Furthermore, before the F30 went into production in October 2011, there was substantial re-construction in the Munich plant, including the upgrading of the stamp press, new robots both for the body shop and for the paint shop.
There was also a 2 week plant shutdown in August 2012, during which further technical adjustments for the plant would likely have been made, if required.
So I wonder if this story is simply inaccurate information or was it useful for the dealer's purposes to speed up delivery of a car already in transit ?
