That said, easier said than done when it's snowing (though I've not hit one yet!) so I'd expect the Blizzak's come with that...

EDIT: Just as an aside, I had Pirelli PZero's fitted to my E90 LCI 330d and they looked crap in comparison to the Potenza's as they had no protector lip and looked skinny like it barely fitted the alloys!
If you slide into a pavement, don't think a tyre lip is going to help any
