It should work with the 4s, try connecting the iPhone and after iDrive ID it start the podcast to see if that's the problem. At least that is how I have fix some issues when playing Pandora.

I'm trying to avoid using my 4s. I just want to keep the iPod in the armrest. I can stream it via Bluetooth with the 4s, but want it all in one spot (my iPod). Again, I'm lazy!
