M550i xDrive Touring Render.
My render of the M550i Touring based on one of the latest spy pics...
Hello all. I believe someone made a render of the G31 M550i Touring before, but mine is completely based on a real spy pic and follows its line faithfully. It's as close as it gets from an M5 Touring that will probably never be made... Enjoy ;-) (With original spy pic and animated gif file showing the transformation)

Currently the G31 tech data only shows 520d, 530d, 530d xdrive, 530i, 540i xdrive.

They did at one point, right?
M5 estate = excellent sleeper, aka you are much faster than most would anticipate, which is fun.

They would be daft not to make it.
Most folk who want to shell out that kind of money would opt for the M5 anyway. I've seen probably 2 550i on the road in the past 5 years over 100000miles of driving. A tourer M550i would be a great USP |

BMW NA said that they will no longer offer Touring (Wagon) models in the US. None. The F31 is the last one, ever.
However, if they did decide to bring over a 5 series wagon, it would only be available in the lowest spec engine possible - similar to the F31 only being offered in the 2 liter 4 cylinder - and only xdrive - and only automatic. If you want a super sporty German wagon in the US, Mercedes-Benz is your only option from now on.

The US requires full crash tests and emission certifications for each chassis, each engine, each drivetrain. So for a car that comes in multiple engine specs and multiple drivetrains, that's enormous cost for something BMW doesn't think will sell well here in the states. So they either just don't do it or pick a spec that they think will sell the best and get only that version of the car crash tested and certified. Not to say we can't make them sell us what we want. In the early 90s BMW had no plan to sell the e36 M3 in the US, however, after a formal petition by the BMW CCA, they caved and brought it over - though nerfed and with plastic headlights, but they did it. Nothing's impossible.
