Glacier Silver/White owners....worth it to detail?
Very subjective question but I want to hear other #A83 / 300 owner's thoughts. Of course proper wash, sealant and wax is mandatory but I just spent all of last weekend polishing- and nearly lost my mind; in a sorta(?) good way...
It was darn near impossible to find scratches, swirls, etc! This paint color hides everything. As a car owner, that makes me very happy, but as a detailer, I was frustrated because I knew scratches were definitely there! Only after the most intense, specific light angles, was I able to spot them. After the polish, the results were underwhelming. I know white/silver won't ever look like polished black but truth is, I don't think I've ever seen a silver BMW paint pop before. Silver/White owners out there...thoughts? |

My previous 335i was Black Sapphire Metallic. I currently own an Alpine White 335i. I know the struggle. While it is amazing to keep swirl free (appearance), I almost miss the insane popping gloss of freshly paint corrected BSM.

While it is true that you won't get as dramatic a result as you could from a dark coloured car, you get the benefit of more forgiveness for light imperfections. Just as you can't tell how dirty your car really is - white is just that forgiving.
My previous car was Monaco Blue and I swear she'd look dirty the day after I washed her - talk about frustration. Felt like I was always doing some sort of touch up cleaning everytime she hit the pavement. So much happier with AW, myself. |

My 2014 BMW was Jet black and it was very hard to keep clean, this is why I switched to Glacier Silver. Silver still looks real nice and like a mirror when clean and waxed It doesn't have as much depth as a deep dark monaco blue or Black but it still looks striking and can look like a Mirror except its a silver mirror, lol I never had a white car so I don't know if it gets that mirror appearance or POP the Silver does look cleaner longer then my jet black but if you look closely after a few days I see dust settling on it that would be real visible with dark colors but silver and probably white would definitely :hide it" a bit more. The silver is a very clean shine and in bright sun it changes from silvery/ to whitish and vs cloudy dusk it looks more silvery/ light grayish. I think Alpine white looks the same in any light but the Mineral white changes a bit like the silver in different light dark colors probably have the most POP and Depth though Its really a matter of taste really I like any color if its clean and shiny fresh there is no color that i really dislike but the Jet Black i was tired of all the work keeping it looking clean it got dusty while I was waxing it LOL

Glacier Silver
I went from a 2013 race red mustang to this Glacier silver 328i. I miss the red and how deep it looked with great wax, you just don get that effect with the silver. But like others have said the silver is much more forgiving on blemishes and scratches. With the right wax and time it turns into a mirror.

Thanks guys! like i said at first i was disappointed by the lack of depth but once you put some work into it, it will look great. I clay bared the front and a nice solid coat of https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004HCM9H4?psc=1
I can say its not my Fav color but it stands out a lot less then my mustang did and that's what i was going for. Im over the flashy days. that being said i would like to wrap it one day another solid color but who knows. |

I went from a 2011 328 with BSM to a 2014 435 in glacier silver. I just finished putting two coats of Menzerna Powerlock followed by a coat of Collinite 915 (two coats on the horizontal surfaces). That same process on the BSM made the paint really come alive with a deep carnuba shine, but it's not nearly as fulfilling on the silver paint. As you can imagine, the water beading is incredible.
Neither car ever needed/needs a serious correcting polish. That said, I do detect some faint streaking in the silver paint on the hood. I may attempt a light polish with some Menzerna SF4500 (I think that's what I have) next year. |

I own AW now and just do basic maintenance stuff and it stays looking very nice. I've personally not noticed a big difference between it freshly detailed and just freshly cleaned (except up very close). Not like MW that will pop and glisten when properly detailed. It's always just kind of blah imho (I hate white cars). MG FTW!!

I've got a Glacier Silver F30. I love this paint so much. I was unsure before I went to see the car, however, the choice was clear as soon as I saw it.
It really does pop for a silver car. Also, this color at night/evening time is even more incredible. |

The struggle is real. F32 AW here and I agree. Work load is the same (wash, clay, sealant, wax) but the results on AW...meh.
Despite not getting those "daayym that looks good" comments from friends and family I still feel good about buying AW. |

I think both white and silver look amazing in the evening and at night when they reflect all the lights.
Oh, and if you do not already have a power buffer and a mechanics stool on wheels, get these asap. Makes the job so much easier/faster. |
