Can someone ID this part?

Just had my coolant expansion tank hose break and temporarily fixed with some gas line and 2 worm clamps while waiting for the new one to arrive. Went to replace it today and noticed that the other cable/ hose that runs along the front- top of the engine bay was mangled a bit from the worm clamp digging into it. Not sure if anyone knows what this does or what the part # is. Seems like the actual cable was not damaged but the protective rubber sleeve is torn up a bit.

Looks like it runs into some sort of module on the right and the left side goes downwards into the engine bay.

The hood lock release cable, if it sags enough, will also melt as it's touching hot components. I can see in your photo that it has already melted as the part below has grime on it. You should lift the cable up, clean the melted rubber as it smells terrible every time you drive your car, and then hang the cable from one of the holes on the right side with a cable tie so it doesn't sag. For good measure, add aluminum tape to the (exposed) portion of the cable.

Will do, I appreciate the help. Was thinking of doing a heat wrap shield around it but aluminum tape should work just as well and cheaper.
