I hope the coupe doesn't follow suit as they all should be sport, but I assume it will? I don't get how trying to give us more options seemed to have given us less?

It's simple, you lack reading comprehension as does the entire rest of this forum, it seems.

You can still get a regular BMW in any color, with any interior and trim you want and get whatever options you want. These lines are just packages of options combined with some visual changes and badging. Apparently there was demand for these, and I can imagine a few people I know going for certain lines but I think most people will still buy BMWs the way we have until now, by picking options and colors a la carte.

Also, why should they all be sport? Do you realize the VAST majority of BMW buyers have no interest in sporty driving? There are two E90 328is in my family and both are driven by people over 60. They both really love their cars and, obviously, neither of them has the sport package. Things may be different where you live, but where I live almost all BMWs you seen are driven by middle aged men and women, I even saw an elderly lady (full head of white hair and everything) in a brand new F12 650i today.

You are half right, I agree with you about the sport comment. As for getting any interior you want that is not true. Unless you get one of the new "lines" or go individual, you have two interior color choices black or tan. You also can't get any of the cool trims.

Agree with many who say the new badges for each line are overkill. The 3 lines are basically just the old packaged options. However, I suppose the problem comes if, say, you like the Sport Line interior and the Luxury Line exterior. Then you appear to be out of luck.

The exterior is sleek and, to me, a vast improvement over the E90. I still find the dashboard with that sweep of plastic on the passenger side to be odd and ugly. It's so bad, it's almost a show-stopper because it's difficult to avoid looking at it when you're sitting in the front.

Based on the F30 exterior and interior design style, we can reasonably expect LED lights will be added to the "sports" "modern" and "luxury" badge on LCI...

Is that dark brown leather only for luxury? (or modern, too lazy to check the pictures again)

If so, that's a shame it's a really nice looking color.

Here you go

no lines in the US:

http://www.bimmerfile.com/2011/10/17...ries-exterior/

Just plain old BMW 3! Plus I'm sure we M-sport as our sport package. None of these 'mini-individual' lines with their door sills and interior piping.

You can choose between black and beige leather for a model without any of the lines. Also, there are three trims avaialable: a silver trim, an aluminum trim with black strip and a wood trim.

All exterior colors regardless of whether you choose a line or not, only excpetion is Estoril II which is exclusive to the M-Sport pack.

Yep, you can't combine M-Sport with any of the lines.

Best regards,
south
South, is the beige leather Veneto beige w/black dash top or is it Oyster? Also, is the wood trim Burl Walnut or Fineline Anthracite?

BTW it goes without saying that you should be able to order different trims/grills and badges through the parts dept and then have a dealer or yourself install them.

Example 1. Say you want the Sport line w/ black interior but the look is a bit too sporty for you. One could buy say the Anthracite wood trim w/black strips through the parts department to soften it up a bit.

And South, I would think the Sport trans could be ordered on a base 335i- not just the Sport-line model, correct?

Incorrect!........

If you read the article it states there will be no line "badges" on U.S. models- not no lines in the U.S.

Choice is good IMO. BMW clearly haven't failed judging by their sales having ramped up in recent times

As to window trims, you can choose between matt black (standard) and shadow line. Chrome trim is tied to the Luxury line and not available else, regardless of the model.

As to grill slats, they're tied to the lines as well: Standard models have black slats (yes, even 335i), Sport line has gloss black slats, Luxury line chrome slats and Modern line matte chrome slats.
Thanks south.

I actually like the matt black exterior trim and black grill slats, and suspect most others who don't want to order one of the lines will as well. But, what's unfortunate is that if you DO order one of the lines, you cannot opt out of any features that are standard from that line (no substitutions), so for example your Sport F30 (which you had to opt for in order to get the sport seats) will have gloss black slats and that's that - no choice for non-gloss. Of course some of that stuff can be easily changed after you purchase the car, but that's sort of a bummer.

Quote:
Yes, you can have the same interior trim but with a black strip for the M-sport.
And that's nice. But, unfortunately you can't pair up the black trim with the black accent strip for an an all black look, akin to a current E90 with black interior trim. You also cannot you pair the black trim with a pearl gloss accent strip, either, for a more sublte metallic accent - that would look nice as well.

Easy there, compadre. You are the one who needs to read a bit more carefully.

Grossly overstated, to the point of being outright false. Please see the comments left by southlight in his posts above.

That's not what I see. Did I miss it? As far as I can tell, only the fender badges (maybe the doorsill badges too, I suppose) will be omitted in the US. He did not say that the lines themselves will not come to the US.

However, strictly speaking, it is true that we do not know the options list for the US yet. There may be differences between what we get and what is offered in other markets. In fact, this is usually the case; however typically we end up getting fewer choices, not more.

Well this definitely clears things up for me. Needless to say I will not be picking a line considering I hate all of the leather and trim options available in those lines. The red accents in the gauges on the Sportline make it look like a Nissan Altima, otherwise I may have considered it..

I think I'd go for the Luxury line with the M-sport package (assuming that's possible).

Not feeling the "modern" line. Just looks like the "gonna get dirty quick" line.

Oh yeah, and those ghey badges are the first things to go. MY CAR SAYS 'LUXURY'!!!!

Right?

There are some pics that show a single zone, but most seem to show dual zone:

No, not according to what has been released so far.

EDIT: I didn't see you said individual, yes you can do anything with that, but it will cost you a ton.
