I watched the in-car track videos and when I saw the 328i, I said, "Hmmmm not too bad at all."
Then the next lap was with a 335i and I said, "Oh my God! I can't believe I just complimented that awful sounding 4-cylinder! This is what a BMW should sound like!"

Man, those engine sounds are really bad -- I was cringing at the straining of the 328i video. And all I could hear was tire noise in the 328i driveby.
The exhaust notes for both cars are very nice, however.

Legendary straight six sounded as expected. The N20? I think it sounded pretty awful from the clip. Would make me not want to gun it - sounds like the engine was going to break.

Both exhaust sounds sound better than I expected, nice raspy sound, not roarty and hollow like so many after market exhausts which are just annoying. Until now I lamented the loss of the sweet sounding Sixes from the E36 and E46 era, didn't like the E90 335i (artificially throaty), but this with a little burble on lift off is very nice.

I love that 335i (N55) exhaust burble.. I have had people say about my 335i (N54) ... who are not into cars... is there something wrong with your exhaust ha!

1) Im glad you can hear the BPV on both as the throttle is let up. Just wish you could hear some compressor whine.
2) The 328 should be quieter as most people getting that model probably dont want to hear much, while the 335 folks are probably (but not always) more performance oriented. Both give me wood.

I'm not a fan of the burble after lift off. It reminds me of my high school days drooling over Camaros with glass packs lol

Maybe it'll grow on me. Most of
The choices BMW make disappoint me at first and later make it the reason I love BMW. (current ///M situation for example)

Hmm, performance, fuel consumption all very impressive on the 4 banger, but that sounds...makes me think Honda. Which, for the avoidance of doubt, is not a good thing in the aural appeal department.

HMM I thought someone turn on the electric saw on the N20 engine. Exhaust we can deal with later.

I like the exhaust note from the 328i, but not from the 335i. On the other hand, I like the engine note from the 335i but not from the 328i.
