328i Sportline Ordered

Hey all,

Just wanted to share that I ordered a 328i sport. Car goes into production the first week of April. I should have it in the states sometime near the end of May. So here's the good stuff:

Make: BMW
Model: 328i Sedan
Exterior Color: Mineral Grey Met
Interior Color: Black/Red highlight
Trans: Steptronic
Conv Top:
Options Include:
320 De-Badge
ZPS Premium Sound Package
ZSL Sport Line
ZTP Technology Package
3AG Rear-View Camera
465 Fold Down Rear Seats
494 Heated Front Seats
4AD Aluminum Trim
4DL Highl. trim finish.black high-gloss
508 Park Distance Control
ZPP Premium Package
522 Xenon Adaptive headlights

I'm debating about switching the interior to gray, but I love the mineral grey color. I used to live in Europe, and I'm a big fan of the de-badging. I'm not trying to hide anything, I just really like the clean look of no badges on the rear.

Hey, you don't have to explain any of your options. If you're happy, that's all that matters. Congrats on your BMW!

Congrats! You sure you didn't want to go with 335i? With all these options, it really makes sense to spend extra $1.5k to get the bigger engine. The actual difference is around $6k, but you add all the options (for e.g. ZPP, ZSP are cheaper for 335i, Xenons are standard and you get a lot of ZPP standard, moonroof, etc.), it starts making sense to go with the 6 cylinder unless you looking for better mileage.

My two cents.

Thats the exact reason I ended up with 335i as well. The lease difference was $54 dollars with exact same configuration as 328i. The standard xenon and some other standard options make up for the difference.

There are more reasons why someone could take the 328i over the 335i though

go on

handling comes to mind. from recent reviews, it tends to perform better because of lighter engine. 335i seems to understeer a bit, but that's the only thing that comes to my mind.

i thought "3DZ" was the option to remove the Line badge on the side of the car, is this the model badge on the rear being removed?

Haha, the reason why I got the 328 instead of the 335 isn't as philosophical as many of you would think. I reserved a much less optioned out 328 a couple of weeks ago. Then, partly due to the long wait, I became antsy and added all the options. If I had to do it again, I'd probably go the same way. I would rather have the options instead of going for the 335 with less, regardless of if the 335 costs only a little more.

Now, to the debadging. This refers to the model number in the rear. I believe all American vehicles are produced without the model line on the side. I lived in Bayern for a bit and maybe 5% of the cars had something other than the company badge on the back. I became used to it, and I like it. Surprisingly, Audi's are all over the road compared to BMW's ... much different than upstate NY where I grew up.

Now, the only decision I have left is to decide whether to switch to an everest gray interior as compared to the black. I think the lighter interior would contrast well with the darker exterior. My only concern is that the inside would be a little too dull .... I kind of wish that the car would go into production so that all of the configurations would be locked in haha
