Pandora?

I have enhanced BT along with BMW apps. How do I get pandora going? Does it require the cradle which I don't have? I don't see pandora in the BMW apps menu.

Thanks

All I had to do in order to get Pandora access is to use my Apple iPhone cable, hook it up, and then access the Pandora app on my iPhone....This then triggered BMW Apps to open up the Pandora app in iDrive. Then you can listen to hours & hours of music in your new Bimmer! Enjoy my friend!

No kidding. When I watched a video review of an Audi, it showed on the car's center screen that the audio through Bluetooth was streaming at 32kbps.

I thought: "This is what all the hype is over streaming audio to your car?" You might as well buy a transistor radio and put it in the passenger's seat to listen to.

If I have 16 speakers and 600W of power like the Harman Kardon radio upgrade has, there'd better be a lot better quality of sound going through it than 32, 64, or 96kbps.

Stick to the music you downloaded (hopefully at far better rates than those mentioned above) into the hard drive and get more out of the radio.

Of course, if you don't care about audio quality or listen to talk radio, I suppose lower rates are just fine.

I'm going to try this today, because I've been struggling with pandora for three days now

I was using the BMW app to stream Pandora and also for internet radio, until it ate up all my data.

I didn't realize it used data. I called AT&T and they say the obvious....Bluetooth does not use your data, any apps that require internet access do. I just figured the apps used the internet connection the car has, for free...wishful thinking...

When I have the IPhone 5 plugged into the cradle in the armrest and go to use the phone, it brings up Siri, rather than the BMW tools for making calls. This also uses a small amount of data I was told by AT&T.

I've been streaming Pandora through BT with (edit: to) the non-nav iDrive (from my phone). Is the quality really that poor?

I was initially impressed, thinking it may be as bad as Sirius which is noticeably poor quality, even compared to a clear FM signal let alone HD radio.

Streaming Pandora through BT, can you please mention how you do that?

It would be sweet to listed to Pandora without using data.

I activated the free 1 year Sirius subscription, and I do use it WAY more than I expected to, but would also like Pandora data free.

Thanks!

I meant streaming via BT to the car, it still consumes data when I use it this way.

LoL, really? No matter what app you are using, it uses data to stream. There is no free streaming. If it comes from your phone, even if that is connected to your car, it is using your data.

Are we in 2014 or were some human beings time warped. I am over 40 and understand this stuff, how do people really not get that the phone uses data to play music from an app? Maybe I should start selling bridges to the world populace, I would be a millionaire before they realized they were duped. LoL.

His post clearly stated he was using BT to stream, and BT uses no data according to AT&T.

So forgive me for thinking maybe someone knew something I didn't, and forgive me for not having your level of intelligence.

Well, he is not smart enough to know the definition of tact, but I'll admit, he clearly understands the meaning of douche.

Think of it this way...

BT doesn't require a data plan to stream (push) data from one device (phone) to another (car), however Pandora does require a data plan to stream (pull) data to your device (phone) from the source (Pandora server). Unless of course you are connecting via a wifi connection. Which obviously wouldn't be possible if you are driving around in your car. Therefore the phone needs to use a cellular network to stream (pull) the data which requires a data plan.
