But other than that minor issue, looks good. Liking the blue a lot.

eXactly what i was going to post.. i dont mind it on the side door for the e90s but just go back to 328xi... it was so much more simple

My assumption would be that BMW wants to portray their four wheel drive as an "identity" in the way that Audi markets their Quattro system. X-Drive has a much more marketable branding than just adding a letter in the model designation, even it is easier and better in every way

Hmm. Maybe the style lines will open up for 2013.

Please god tell me they finally caved and are offering a sport seat standalone option. Customers have been asking for it for years, I can't believe it took them so long....

They're probably thinking that but how much more of an identity could you possibly achieve by taking out the "x" and having an actual xDrive badge? It's not like people didn't know about xDrive or the previous nomenclature was confusing. BMW is just following Audi (Quattro) and Mercedes (4-Matic) which I don't think is necessary. If BMW want's to push something, how about pushing out availability of Diesel engines here in the US and Canada?

Sports seats on the luxury line? Either great news that it will be available to order (at least as an option) or false marketing to hide the fact that non-sport lines get non sport seats.

if the later is true, I still think it's a big fail that you can't get brown sport seats anymore; especially if you go with Msport...

I 100% agree with the fail- what's more- I remember seeing modern/lux cars when they were first introducing the F30 that had the sport seats in them and of course the car we get doesn't have them. so that could be the case with this car.

At first I thought no, because it does have the amber reflectors in the bumper and hence should be a US spec car. That said, they could have slapped a US bumper on a Euro car. To be sure, if anyone on here is going to that show and will be able to see the car up close, look at the headlights- if "DOT" is stamped on there somewhere it should be a US car through and through. Another giveaway would be the NHTSA warning/info labels on the sunshades and doorjamb

HATE IT...de-badge for sure! What are they thinking. Keep it in the same place as E90.

A bit late there on that observation, bud. The xDrive nameplate has been around for almost a decade since the 2003 debut of the X3. But it wasn't until a series of LCI refreshes to a number of models in 2007 that BMW decided to start badging the xDrive equipped cars with the nameplate in place of the simple "x." It was instituted not just for marketing purposes (not to say that BMW wasn't thinking about it), but because it was all-new for BMW; a performance-oriented, rear-biased, torque vectoring all-wheel drive system. They felt the new innovation required a new nameplate, because while people did know BMW offered AWD, they didn't know there was a new technology.

And what's wrong with going the way Audi and Mercedes are going in terms of naming a drivetrain system? 4-Matic is a name as absurd as a Benz buyer is well polished and gaudy--but at least it's clear the car has AWD. Audi's Quattro has been around since the 80s. While it does mean "four" in spanish, it's a bit silly. Still, the little nameplate is so absolutely tiny that you only ever look for the little silver bar, not even bothering to read it on the grille and below the car's engine designation badge. Regardless, BMW is certainly not following anybody.

Wait the black headliner is only available in Europe? I'm not sure about that, I rode in a 328i test car that motortrend got awhile back and it had black headliner.
