After owning 2 C classes and an A4, I'm considering an F31 because the competition is no longer offering sport wagons. This makes it a pretty easy choice, though admittedly I would have likely chosen another A4 if Audi hadn't stopped bringing them to NA. Thankfully, the F31 M Sport looks like it will be a fantastic car. My wife has had 2 X3's do we aren't new to the brand, but it should be fun owning MY first BMW.

But IDK it could just be me trying to pic faults. I really want to drive one to see what the steering is like, since the reviews are all of the map on that subject.
I can tell you that the steering doesn't nearly feel as good as the E90s. But it isn't horrible. It's tight, direct, and very quick.

The new BMW isn't as good as the new Mercedes, if you were to ask me the same question a year ago I would have said BMW all the way. They're still a close second, but have you seen that C63 AMG Black Series, sexy as f$&k

I've owned Audis for the better part of a decade, and I love them. but the residuals on the leases are terrible(I leased this car), the a4 is outdated compared to an F30, even with the facelift IMO. The S4 is great but it lost some of aggressiveness with the facelift. I just picked up my 335i today, and I love it, I get better mileage than audi S4 with way more power than an A4 or C class, not to mention the gorgeous look to the F30...

I have extensively networked within the audi/vw scene, and had motivation and incentives from manufacturers to stay with Audi... But the BMW just drove better, looked better, sounded better...all around the better choice...

What about compared to the E46? I suspect the weighting is similar. How does the feed back compare?

I had an E46 and E90, and now an F30 and the F30 steering effort is far lower than either the E46 or the E90. The F30 steering is very precise, just low effort. It really bothered my at first, but I find I am getting used to it now.

LMFAO

How the hell you going to compare a C63 to a F30????

However, I have driven the C350 and it drives like ass. Feels like a boat! The company I work for gets a nice discount from MB and I could have prob paid about $10,000 less than my 335i for a c350 but I wouldn't be happy! feels like a old man car.

Definitely doesnt have anything on the E46 either. Since I have owned an E36, E46, and E90 I must say that the E36 and E46 had the best steering ever. Very comparable to Porsche. The E90s have wonderful steering as well but from what I remember it is slightly different from the E36 and E90. I dunno if it has to do with it being a bigger car or not but non the less the E90 is still wonderful.

The F30 definitely is the looser in this bunch and feed back is lost as road imperfections and tire communication is lost in translation through the electronic motor. I've heard when pushed heard on a track you get some feedback but during day to day driving it just isn't there. I guess you don't really need feedback to drive to the grocery but it's just nice to know it's there for a driving enthusiast. As you've stated it does weights up nicely but its relatively light at low speeds which is more than enough for a lot of drivers.

Did you have an M3 or just a regular 3er?

Thanks! I have been wondering how it compared to the older 3ers as all of the mags compare it to the E90 (which is understandable).

I've been a long-time Acura owner (a couple TLs) but I should be driving my new F30 (BSM, Dakota Black, Sport Line) by the end of the month.

After thorough research and countless test drives (Lexus, Audi, Merc), there was simply no comparison.

Couldn't be more excited!

I was at BMW again this morning with my wife looking at the 328i. I am still holding out for the M sport package though. The car drives nicely and does feel as though it kas lost a little of its sport feel. I attribute it to the run flat tires though. I have owned an Integra type R, tl type S, Aspec Tl, mercedes ml, lifted 4runner, E46 330ci, e46 M3 to name a few cars. My wife drives a Lexus GX470. Out of all of the brands the BMW excites me the most. I would love to buy a Porsche, but I have two children ages 5 and 8. I can fit them in the M3 but it is tight. I like the mercedes AMG line, but Mercedes has the worst customer service. lexus has great service and so does BMW. Acura service could be much better than it is. I like the TSX sport wagon for what it offers but it needs more power and a new grill. I would give up the luxury items for a lesser equiped BMW. sorry for any typos, I am using the ipad in my garage.

Standard C350 does drive like ass, AMG does great work on that car though. Granted an M3 would still most likely mop up a C63 around a track, but that V8 is sexy, it's like a German muscle car, i'd buy it over an M3.

You are on your own with that! Its a gas guzzler and tyre ripper. I would rather buy the M3 or RS4 over it. If I wanted to do donuts and burnouts then I can get any american muscle car for less.
