It varies but about a week. My car expected completion is 11/15. I'm hoping it's gets completed before that so I can catch the 11/16 boat. It would just be my luck if it doesn't. My production didn't start for 27 days...

Not that it cannot happen but if you are going to finish on 11/15 it will be very difficult to get on the 11/16 boat. I am a little mad as yesterday the system said my car was at pot and today it says that it is being transported to port. Hopefully it is just a glitch and my car is at port.

Hey all,
First time buying a new car, let alone ordering one, and I have a couple questions. Just ordered a new 335i xdrive, and my CA dealer traded for a German build he states starts production on 11/19. I'm hoping to receive the car by new years, as I'm starting my first job. The CA seems to think the car could be here by mid-december and will definitely be here by new years. I'd venture to say I don't have much faith in him based on some hiccups in pricing and reluctance to get back to me in a timely manner... The BMWUSA website states that the order is still processing and tells me nothing more Any ideas on a best/worst case timeline for this? As a side note, I'm starting work at Ford R&D, so I suppose I could always buy a used Ford DD considering the 30 MI commute into Detroit...also don't want to get *&#$ from my coworkers for driving a better car Thanks!

Just found out I should be in port (Maryland) on 11/15. So I'm probably looking at an early December delivery considering customs, port installed accessories, transport to nNJ, and finally coding and other dealership whatnots.

I think you're CA ay be a bit optimistic in his timeline. Seems like most folks expect about 8 weeks. I'm just basing that on forum reading. No hard stats or nothing. My order was placed on 10/8, production finished 10/18 and delivery from Germany to Oxnard, CA has an ETA of 11/21. It will be at the VPC for a week (could be shorter or longer) then hauled to my dealer in San Diego. So for me I think the 7-8 weeks from start to finish. I hope this helps.

If it makes a difference, I'm picking it up in SE Michigan, so possibly less time in transit across the country. FWIW the CA said that recently someone picked up their car 5 days after it finished production It's pretty clear that the CA wants to sell the car more than anything, just wish he was more transparent with things...

On her first leg, the Poseidon Leader (the ship my car is on) came out of Bremerhaven, Germany and made port on 11/8 at Brunswick, GA. I believe there is a BMW VPC there. She is now enroute to Port Hueneme in Oxnard, CA with an eta of 11/21 (i think she's a day ahead of schedule though). It's roughly 10-14 days travel i'm assuming from Brunswick to Oxnard, CA via Panama. I'm not sure from which VPC your car would come. But there may be a little time saved for you if the hauler picks up in Brunswick.

Ur car has been on this ship from SA to CA? Did it get changed to another boat? My boat name is Dignity Ace, and I have checked it schedule, it only goes to the East Coast. Now, i need to find out if my car will be loaded on another boat after it arrives at Germany.

Btw, I'm as big a fan of BMWs as anyone, but there are plenty of nice Ford cars as well. With that kind of attitude you won't endear yourself to your new co-workers. (Maybe I'm biased from having driven a Ford for the last ten years. ) |
