Weird metallic sound when engine running
Hello guys,
Well, it might not be weird, but it's my first petrol engine, so it is weird for me. I know what to look out for, but I hope you guys can spot the sound as well in the clip. Is this normal? Or shall I take it in for a diagnose? Thanks! |

Nope, nothing weird about your engine's idling sound. Mine sounds exactly the same as well. Just drive off and enjoy the ride. It's a great one.

The concern started from the fact that I didn't have a petrol engine before and was unsure of what's good and wrong; then the fact that you can only hear it on one side and on the other not accentuated it. When I rev it, you can't hear the sound anymore tho. So, the natural thing was ... to panic ) Well, thanks for the relief, guys. edit: on a side note, anyone could tell me WHAT is that metallic sound? Cos for sure it isn't the engine, you can hear it over it... |

But think I'm gonna start liking it from now on, since now I know it's not a problem, but on the contrary! Thanks for the info. |

Yeah, that one. Actually, I remember this topic being discussed in another thread - or two. Glad everything is all good.

It's the Bosch HDEV5.2 solenoid injectors. They are inherently noisier than piezo injectors. Nothing at all to worry or panic about. In fact, hearing them means all is good!
