Front plate laws differ state by state. For what it's worth, while not having a front plate in California is illegal, I've not had one one in the last 15 years and I've only been cited 4 times. So obviously, it's not the local police's first priority.

Colored lights, on the other hand, are illegal in every state because of DOT laws.

Garage List
The gap around the reflector replacement is different than the gap around the headlight washer and tow hook cover.

That would bother me. It doesn't look stock.

Hey guys thanks for the compliments!

-> **********s.com is where the parts came from... thanks again guys for the quick shipping and great $

-> The spacing thing kind of threw me at first but if you look at the car from 30 ft or more its almost like there isn't even a seem there so it looks perfect. Im about as OCD as they come with body gaps and things so I understand completely, but it really hasn't bothered me as much as you would think.

as good as it looks with these on, the springs and tint will finish it off.

Thanks for the instructions. The molding tape was somewhat painful to take off but worth it.

What do people think of the color match? My alpine white ones are a bit off. Is this typical?

Getting Euro spec m-bumper installed

It looks much better without the reflectors. I bought a US Spec F30 335i here in Germany. The German BMW dealership is going to install the euro spec bumper for me which comes without any reflectors. I've been wanting to get it done since I took delivery and I feel that I'll never be satisfied until I get it done.

Believe it or not, AZ cops could care less. There are TONS of different lights on the road and though itMAY be illegal, cops just don't care here. This is the only state I've lived in that allows non emergency vehicles to have strobes! (Tint is a whole different story strangely enough, Scottsdale cops are anal about the % but Phoenix PD will only bother you if you give them a reason ... It IS a secondary violation after-all)

F30 328i/335i front bumper REFLECTORS removal / install DIY

Do you know if on a 2013 F10 w/M-Sport bumper the inside panel needs to be removed as well?

While I agree they look better than the reflectors, I think you are taking a risk removing them. And I mean more than just getting a ticket. If you were ever in an accident in which visibility of your vehicle was an issue, you would get sued or perhaps more importantly you would hurt your chances of enforcing your claim. Exhibit one would be this illegal mod.

...Wet Blanket much? I would also just like to point out that the headlight reflection and side marker are still visible so the reflector is not nearly as important. Only in America do we even have any laws around reflectors (EU doesn't even have them on their cars) and I promise you that the reflector is not going to get you sued in any normal circumstance.

You can always rain on someone else's parade...

I don't mean to rain on anybodiy's parade, just pointing out that there are risks in overriding legally mandated safety features. I don't disagree that that risk might be small. But I would check with your insurance company if your coverage has any exceptions for disabling any safety features of vehicle.

Wow that looks really good. Can anyone confirm if it is illegal to change the reflectors? I'm an insurance and the claims department says that it's a case by case basis, so they can't tell me yes or no.

Its a state by state thing but the things that are typically necessary are blinkers on the side (their on your mirror) and amber that can be seen from the front corner of the car (Your parking light is easily visible), the reflectors are a new addition to the list of requirements for US sales, many of my previous cars haven't had any so my thought was if I didn't need it before I don't need it detracting from the look of the car now.

Good luck and I know this wasn't an explicit answer of yes or no but hopefully it at least gave you a better idea of if it would be worth it.

Just did mine, and your instructions were spot on. I have an M-Sport line bumper, and I got my reflector replacements from EAS.
