Rusty seat base latest?

Does anyone have any more information as to how the rusty seat base issue will be solved?

Just had a call from the service department at my dealership to say the kit can now be ordered for them to replace the rusty seat components. I'm booked in for next Wednesday when they'll perform the required surgery.

From speaking to him it seems the kit contains the parts to replace the base and hinges so we'll see....

Make sure you inspect your leather and seat backs, and sit in seat to see no squeaks etc before you take it away , past experience in this area's means i would be doing that

I'm a bit nervous about what they have to as apparently mine will be the first one they do.

I'll definitely be inspecting every part of the seat, surrounds and door sills afterwards to make sure it's perfect! I wonder if they'd mind if I watched them do it

We have a late 2012 build on our company fleet that has suffered quite badly from this.
Going in very soon for the dealer to take a look at.

The way I feel at present, I'm not going to look. If there is rust, then tough for me and tough for the next owner. I just can't bear the thought of paint and trim damage from this rectification. As long as the seat does not collapse, I'm satisfied. I'll keep the car for a 2-3 years and be shot of it. Taxi!

Hopefully your seats are ok.
You must have be a contortionist to get a good look under those seats.
Taking a photo would probably be the best method to find out, thats how i intend to examine, when i receive my motor.

Use your mobile phone (assuming it has a flash) to take a couple of photos under each seat. Worked well for me.

if there is any damage, paint chips etc, what do you think you'll ask them to do? give you some sort of gift as an apology or...?

Seeing as I've spent so much on the car from them if they were to damage it in any way they would definitely be putting it right to a more than satisfactory condition. I think I'd want to have a word with the dealership manager to see what they would do as way of an apology. If they don't appease me at this stage I'll complain to BMW UK and take my business elsewhere. There are a few BMW dealerships in a fairly close radius so it won't be a problem.

I'll take photos of the seat areas and door sills before it goes in though so I have a comparison just in case.
