How happy are you with your tires?

Changed from winter tires to summer tires this weekend. Must say I'm not very happy with the Bridgestone Potenzas (18" staggered).

I must keep both hands on the steering wheel at all times to make sure the car does go off the road

How happy are you with tires and what brand of tires do you have?

Will try to get BMW to fit some other brand of tires

Was not happy with the OEM Continental tires, SSRs so I replaced them with Michelin PA3s for winter and PS2s for summer. So much better. I hate runflats.

I have the Pirelli P7 Cinturaro's summer tires. No complaints other than a hard day at the autox will put a hurting on them (but what tire would fare much better).

They're not great in near freezing wet weather (lose traction), but they are summer tires so that's to be expected.

It sounds like you may have an alignment/balancing issue if your car is veering more than a tire issue.

Most people will prefer non runflats over runflats obviously. Just the weight savings alone is worth it, but then again they aren't runflats and you probably want to keep a spare for emergencies which negates the weight savings. But I digress, you didn't ask to debate runflats in general.

I went Hankook Ventus V12's in 19".

I must say I love them and how they handle. They suck in anything close to 0 degrees though.

Best bang for the buck.

Likely either an alignment issue or tire radial pull. Could be a bad tire. Dealer can cross rotate as a test and see if the pull follows the tire. Or they can spin on wheel balancer and check for radial issues. Sometimes it easier to cross rotate and test.

I have the Pirelli PZero 19s on mine and so far I'm OK with them. I do wish Michelin would make a RFT in this size as I typically prefer Michelin overall. Obviously ride quality of the non RFT will be better.

Tires have always been a crucial concern to me. I usually drive to remote areas where roads are not much better. Tires loses grips so early. I want some advice that which tires should be used for such kind of driving?

If what your are talking about is the car following ruts and irregularities in the road, going first one direction and then the other, then it's called tramlining. The road surface you are driving on will make a big difference as to whether you see it or not.
see http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=47

I had a set of Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position summer tires that were really awful at this. You felt like you were constantly fighting the car to keep in on the road sometimes. Those pole positions were super sticky, but at a price.

If it is just drifting off to one side all the time, it's probably alignment.

P7 is an All-Season, not a summer tire. I ran them until this week with no complaints, understanding that they are a compromise, which means they are not particularly good at anything (we have an X5 for real bad weather).

Just switched back to PZeros for summer, much better.

Couldn't have said it better.

I'm more than happy with my V12's.

Check your tires. They make both a summer and all season tire. Mine are Y rated summers. I think there was a thread about this awhile back noting the different tread patterns on the summers versus the all seasons. When I look at OEM replacements on tire rack for sportline P7s, all they show is the ultra high performance summer version.

I thought they were all season until I looked up more information on the tires myself. Explains why they have next to no traction in the cold.

I have the Continental SSR's with a staggered 19" setup. I have been reasonably happy with them. Grip seems good all year (live in Houston, TX so no really cold weather or snow here) and they handle well at all speeds. My only complaint has been road noise as they are very noisy at pretty much all speeds.

I agree. I have the Good Years as well and they are horrible. I feel that they contribute to the excessive road noise I have too. I had the Bridgestone RFT's on my e90 and when I changed them out to non RFT contis almost all of the road noise was gone too. Either way, I hate RFT and will be ditching them asap. I would love to wear these out but I know I will not and will be purchasing new tires within weeks.

I switched from stock sportline wheels and runflat all season tires to Enkei Raijin black wheels with michelin PSS. I'm so glad i made the switch. The car is smoother, handles wayyy better and is more quiet. I can't ask for more... Oh did i mention it handles wayyyy better haha..

P.S. The stock setup way very very heavy. So the car is also faster and noticebly more agile.
