Isn't that a bit of a different scenario since the 3 started off as a sedan? 6 started as a coupe, therefore it wouldn't have looked like a gran coupe from the beginning.

And exactly why this (not the coupe) is now on my radar for next car in the garage...

Wonder what the used market for this and the f30 3 is going to look like in 36 months. I'd think something will take a relative hit.

Not sure about that. This has a higher base price tag than the F30 while the average consumer is not going to really know the difference between this and a 3-series.

Who knows. I'm guessing it depends on how many f36 they sell. I am guessing it will be pretty low at first, since almost no one knows about it, and most non-enthusiast consumers who see it might just opt for the more practical and less expensive 3 sedan or the more roomy and spacious 3 GT. This is a niche car for sure. |

No manual seems an incredible oversight. But given how few posts on this thread about that (ie nothing until page 3) perhaps numbers don't lie.
If anything (in the F8x range) were to tempt me out of my E90M it would be an F86 Grand Coupe with either a DCT or 6MT.

This is the reason the 4 coupe is so oddly long, and I have to say it looks MUCH better as a 4 door car. It's just a shame they had to sacrifice the look of the coupe just so they could create ANOTHER sedan more easily (or I should say more cost effectively).

You guys acting like this is no different than a 3 are cracking me up. This looks nothing like a 3. Yes it has 4 doors, but it doesn't look like a 3 at all.

Still lowers the perception of value for a well optioned 3 series and I can easily see the "Why wouldn't you just get a 4 for that price?" comments when adding all the bells and whistles to a 3.
One of the reasons I purchased the F30 (as apposed to Audi) was because it was a new model line and the S4's were getting a little dated. I figured the resale value on my well optioned 335i would remain higher after a few years because it would still look current when I went to sell it, but this is when I thought the new 3 series meant 4 doors and the new 4 series meant two doors. It's a branding thing. So, again, why not spend just a little bit more and get the 4 series? Objectively.. it looks lower, meaner, sleeker, and there will be the perception that it is just a little bit better than the 3. Especially with reviews like these: http://www.autoblog.com/2014/02/01/2...ficial-photos/ |

I don't like the switch in numbering convention to all "F's". With F80 being an F30 M3, wonder what a M4GC might be...?
