For our readers and owners who want to know every minute detail of the 3 and 4 series, here's a list of the various suppliers for the sedan and coupe's parts.

The 3 Series is assembled among BMW's Munich (Germany), Leipzig (Germany), Regensburg (Germany) and Rosslyn (South Africa) plants.

The 4 Series is produced in the Munich, Regensburg and Dingolfing plants in Germany.

Small correction / more detail about the 4 Series' production:
The 4 Series Coupe is produced in Munich
The 4 Series Cabrio is (only) produced in Regensburg
And the 4 Series Gran Coupe is (only) produced in Dingolfing.

Nice to see a few American companies in there. I didn't expect that. I know the glass in my German built 328i is from China. Didn't expect that either.

There is always competition amongst suppliers to deliver parts, most companies that make parts for other industries usually hate auto because of how frugal they are. Even the most efficient companies like Toyota have a profit margin of 10% when all is said and done.

Even if a supplier is from one company, chances are they manufacture parts close to where BMW builds the cars. But that's just me speculating

You can see how complex the supply chain is though, so it's not surprising when there are serious problems due to large recalls or mass defective parts.

I'm pretty sure there's more suppliers involved than the ones listed in the pictures.

For example: seats (Recaro), windows (Saint Gobain Glass), brakes (brembo), tires (Michelin), motor electronics (Bosch), windscreen wipers (Bosch), battery (Varta), etc...

Really, there are many more.
