Sure it's clear. The odds be me never experiencing a reboot while listening in my other car are zero if both radios worked the same. As far as Google, I guess you're correct on that also. I just searched for sirius reboot, sirius idrive reboot, bmw sirius problem, etc. I must be doing something wrong.

Clearly you are too stupid to get it even when it is spelled out for you - just like you ignored post #14 above.

The systems were not as integrated as they were in the past.

At one point cars had carbs and virtually no electronics outside of a radio and lights.

Today they are all integrated. A car with water damage and the car is almost always totalled as the electronics are shot. Would not happen 30 years ago.

The more integration, the more things are interdependent.

When Sirius receives an update, it reboots. Does not matter if you are in the car or not.

Period.

End of story.

Try spending some time with Google to find you are wrong. In another thread on this forum, another poster even posted an email response from Sirius confirming they were the issue after the constant reboots in July/Aug of this year after a bad update.

The rest of you can continue to take your car in for days so repairs can be made that do nothing to change the issue.

I know this thread is old and caused a few arguments here, but the iDrive on my 2 month old 2014 F30 had to reboot 3 times during my 12 minute commute to work this morning. This is the first time this ever happened. I was listening to Sirius by the way.

Is there a clear answer to this issue? If you experienced the same please provide your input and what was done to fix it etc...

I took my car to the service and they restarted the iDrive system. No issues since...

I had an issue with my door lock pin as well so I left the car and picked up my 2014 528xDrive loaner My car was ready in 3 hours.

My service adviser didn't comment on the problem. He just said if the restart wouldn't work they need to file a certain type of paperwork and the BMW NA will handle the matter from that point on.

My 2 month old F30 had similar issues last weekend. During a road trip the iDrive system rebooted once. It looks like it was stuck on a traffic notification screen. If it happens again, I am planning to take the car in.

My iDrive rebooted once again, but this time it wiped out my radio presets, nav data, forgot the bluetooth devices, etc... This could be a good thing as it hasn't happened since (fingers crossed).

Last couple days, my idrive keeps rebooting every few minutes....sometimes nav, Bluetooth phone data/set up lost...Any definitive fix for this problem ?

Your iDrive systems are crashing. Take your vehicle to a service center to have them diagnose the problem.

So my "iDrive/ConnectDrive" screen was turning black. The radio, phone, etc still worked except the display was turned off.

When I rest the system, holding the volume knob in for 30 seconds, it would reset. However the display would dim to a blank screen then light back up. It did this about 3 times until the display stayed on. I then used the voice command to turn the display off and proceeded to hit the nav button. It didnt turn back on until I got home and shut the car off.

I pulled the rear trunk carpet off and pressed down on all the fuses to make sure that everything was seated properly. After doing that and downloading the update from bmw.com I haven't been able to reproduce the issue. Im very confused as to why this is happening with a car that has 170 miles on it.

Car is a 2014 335xi M Sport with port installed M Perf Brakes.

Took my car in today for idrive problem. Apparently, this is a known issue related to Blackberry phone - which when paired and office turned on,idrive can become unstable and start random reboots when e mails which have large distribution lists are updated to idrive... I disconnected my BB Q10 and indeed idrive crashing stopped. I then deleted all spam mail and e mails with large distribution lists in the last 30 days, repaired phone and works fine so far ....

Check your iDrive MN and TN software levels and report back the version #'s.

I assume this issue is only on the 2014 models? Haven't had any issues with my 2013 on which I've had 3 different BlackBerry phones paired since I've had the car (9900, Z10, and currently Q10).

Not sure, I would think it affects 2013 as well, I think the likely cause of my issue was a corrupted e mail, given that I've received many e mails with large distribution ever since I got the car and had not experienced a problem until recently...hasn't reoccurred since....

My navi in my 435 crashed and rebooted once out of the blue the first week I had the car (roughly 2 months ago), but hasn't happened since. This NEVER happened to my E92 335. Very strange
