M Performance side skirts
Hi all, just wondered whether the black M performance side skirts were just vinyl stickers when factory fitted or are they one piece?
Fancy the look of them and wondered what the vinyl sticker option was like that I've seen on ebay? Cheers |

There's the vinyl sticker that goes over part of the standard M Sport side skirt, then there's the thin side skirt extensions (rocker panel) that fit to the underside of the m sport side skirt.
The extensions are expensive, but necessary if fitting the front lip imo. The vinyl is not nice at all, again imo! See here for all the external M Performance accessories: http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/F3...e_accessories/ |

Do be wary, cheap ebay replicas are much much thinner and lower quality - not used them but read bad reviews. This makes them harder to install well and less robust. Also, many of them are plain black decals with an additional M Performance sticker over the top, where as the OEM parts are single decals I believe. I'm having parts fitted as part of whole kit, collect my car weds (unless any delays in getting parts), happy to give more detailed analysis when I collect if you like |

When we were looking there was a white F31 at the dealer with the full kit. I didn't mind it too much but the missus said it looked really chav, like it had been driven through Halfords to see which parts would stick on!
It looked sort of OK on the white, but I can't see it looking good on other colours.... |

I had similar experience. They had a couple in with full m performance kit including (i think) the wheel). I got one 'those' looks and was told it was only missing names on sun strip top of windscreen. Personally, I like the sides and front, it's getting that happy medium between sporty stylish and chavtastic. |

Cheers chaps, some really useful comments there, might give them a miss then although I do like the boot spoiler still....
Can't justify the expense of the full car or more like no chance of getting the wife's buy in! |

I must be quite lucky as my wife was almost talking me into getting the kit. It was even her idea to get the wheels and being a considerate husband, how could I refuse her wish
I did see another F30 in Moonstone a few weeks ago without the kit and I thought it looked a bit lacking. Maybe I'm too used to seeing my car to be wholly objective

On practicality front - I must admit I think it is going to be touch and go whether it even gets on my drive properly, going to piss me right off if it doesn't, I'll find out Wednesday! How do you view gallery? I'd love to see your pics? |

I have a F31 with the side skirt lips and the decals on.
To be honest I've seen a few cars without the lips (e.g. just the decals) and you can't really tell, of course I can. So get them both, but if just one then the decals. I'd put these above the front splitter, but not above the rear spoiler. I have the decals fitted to my M5, which is extremely rare but an official BMW part none the less. Pics of both in my gallery. I also have pics of the decals with my original 403M's. Good luck! Mat

What colour is your car? I have the full kit on mine and my car is white so it's quite a contrast.
Havn't had any negative feedback so far from other people (ie chav), most people don't really notice unless they are enthusiasts so I would say just go for it. No sure how easy the vinly strip is to fit though yourself, I had mine done at the dealer and they reckon the side strip and rear diffuser were the most tricky parts to fit (I guess the side strip is maybe difficult to line up all the way along the bottom). Here's a link to my album so you can see mine (just figured out you can make an album): http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/alb...?albumid=10547 Dannywooly77 black looks great by the way!

They do look great. Anybody seen or got any pics of the side skirts but with no decals?
