I'm interested in the JB4 for my new 2016 BMW 340i B58. Is this still in beta? How do the upgrades work?

Is there a map to work in tandem with mppk? How about race gas?

At this time, map 1 is the only suggested map for the B58

Just an update for anyone who follows this....

Recently, Terry released V4 firmware which includes a more aggressive Map 2 (for use with supporting mods and/or high octane fuel).

For those are some pretty impressive gains. But for those of us who only have access to 91 octane, what are the expected gains over stock on Map#1? Do you have any data or dyno runs that you can share demonstrating this?

JB4 shift lag

Hey guys,
I have a JB4 and burger intake for my 340. Was wondering if anyone else has experienced or heard anyone complaining of lag in the shifting? Sent a diagnostic to Burger and they said everything looked normal, but the guys from DME tuning agree that there is a pronounced lag between gear changes. Thanks.

I experienced this as well but mine seemed more severe. Almost like a shift bog.

When WOT, during the shift there was a 1-2 second pause where I would have to take my foot off the throttle and go WOT throttle again for it resume. Since updating the JB4 to firmware 5e, I ave done about 6-7 logs and the issue isn't there anymore. I will continue to log incase those 6-7 logs were just lucky.

On 93 octane between 380-400rwhp depending on dyno IMHO.

Only way to go above 400rwhp right now is Meth.

@ mike@x-ph.com Can you answer the following questions for me;

1) Fuel - how does the does the JB4 compensate/correct fuel trims? I assume that the JB4 fools the factory ECU into thinking it's seeing, lets say 8psi, when the engine is actually producing 12 psi. In this case the ECU will be fueling for 8psi value when it should really be for the 12 psi value. Does the JB4 rely on the O2 sensor and factory ECU to correct fuel trims based on AFR?

2) Ignition - how does the does the JB4 compensate/correct ignition timing? Again, I assume that the JB4 fools the factory ECU into thinking it's seeing, lets say 8psi, when the engine is actually producing 12 psi. In this case the ignition timing will be a bit advanced for the 8psi value when it should really have a bit more retard for the 12 psi value. Does the JB4 rely on the knock sensor to get the factory ECU to pull timing to correct ignition based on knock?

Thanks.

You'll be best off asking any technical questions to BMS directly on
their forum. I know that timing is adjusted by modifying the intake
temperature signal back to the DME and normally fuel trims are
adjusted by modifying the fuel pressure signal back to the DME, but
for the B58 application I think there is some difference with how fuel
trims are managed.

Silly question maybe, but are you in Sport+ or full DSC off? There was times where I felt a lag, but then realized the car was reducing power thinking the wheels were going to slip. The traction lights didn't even come on. But when I reran it with DSC off, it worked perfectly.

Happy Customer.

Just installed my JB4 and Burger CAI on my 2016 BMW 340i M-Sport. Everythhing is great, and install was simple. Waiting on my Bluetooth adapter so I can play some more. Right now I am running Map 2, with 93 octane fuel. Thanks Terry and BMS!
