Need advice in buying used BMW
Hi guys ... need your advice... i had a 2015 bmw 328xi in which the entire engine was replaced... some how I managed to sell that. Now looking to buy a used bmw ... found one deal but need advice
The deal i found is 1. Certified bmw from bmw dealer 328i 2016 for 33k 2. It has all the features like nav, harmon cardon music sys, heads up display, led headlight etc 3. 8k miles driven ... car fax shows rental vehicle and no issues reported Problem is the other 328i 2016 vehicle in the same dealer which doesn't have either nav or headsup display or harmon music or have more miles driven are priced higher than the one i am looking for What could be the reason... the car i am looking at doesn't that deal look fishy ... what questions should i ask while test driving the vehicle... please advice ... thanks & regards... kishore

not sure about this but the "rental" maybe could be a demo vehicle and doest have CPO; and the other more expensive one is a CPO?
what was wrong with your 2015 engine that it had to be replaced? |

Maybe it has been on the lot for a while? I was debating between two different CPOs and one of them was thousands less than comparable vehicles. I checked the Carfax and it showed it had been on the lot for months without selling. They had discounted it quite a bit. Incidentally, I chose the other car.

If it has all the options you want at a good price and is CPO then you can't really go wrong I don't think. Only 8,000 miles... meaning under CPO you are covered for another 92,000 miles.
I would agree with the above comments... maybe it has been on the lot for a long time and they want to get rid of the car. If BMW puts a CPO sticker on it then it is a safe used purchase. Being a 2016 and with such low mileage you still will have new car warranty for quite some time. As I mentioned above as long as the car is exactly what you want and has all the packages you are looking for, and a clean car fax, new car warranty, and CPO... I would say it is safe. |

Yeah a 2016 with 8k miles CPO I would buy without hesitation. You basically have full factory warranty and CPO on top of that. Can't beat it.

A link to the specific vehicle would help those chiming in to give you advice.

Carfax is totally worthless. I bought a 2016 328i cpo loaner with 7 k miles. Even the sticker in the window said only bumpers touched up then when we were going over the paperwork I saw the paper with the cost of the supposed bumper touch up it said 13k in repairs. I was like WTF what's up with that. Come to find out it had the real window and roof pan replaced. None of that was on carfax report. Needles to say I got the car a lot cheaper after catching that.
Moral of story is find out what if any in house repairs it has had done to it. |
